Exit Permit Only / EPO (Izin Keluar) – KITAS / KITAP Closure Procedure

Description Why do we need EPO? EPO for closing of KITAS (student, working, investor, family, repatriation, retirement, nomad). The sponsor must apply for an EPO if the ITAS/ITAP has expired and is not renewed. The purpose of obtaining an EPO for KITAS cancellation is to have a legally clean relationship between you and the previous company by returning all original documents to the authorities. This regulation can be further explained as follows: When a foreigner moves to a new company or changes KITAS sponsors, an EPO must be obtained before being able to get a new work permit. When a foreigner changes the type of KITAS, for example from a work KITAS to a retirement KITAS, EPO is needed. When a foreigner resigns from a job and will no longer work in Indonesia, an EPO must be submitted before leaving Indonesia. Leaving Indonesia without KITAS Cancellation You may have decided to leave Indonesia with a valid KITAS and then not return to the country. However, if you plan to re-enter Indonesia and your KITAS expired while you were abroad, you will face administrative immigration issues. Once the Indonesian immigration officer learns that your KITAS has not been canceled by EPO, you will be interrogated upon your return to Indonesia. Otherwise, you will be denied entry to Indonesia at any time. Without the closure of KITAS, you cannot get a new visa C1/211A/C2 or new KITAS. Conditions We would advise against leaving the EPO process to the last day. It takes approximately 3-5 working days. After receiving the stamp, you will have to leave the country within 7 days. Note If you have not done EPO before leaving Indonesia, you can also close KITAS through TSP/ERP/ETK procedure when you are already outside the country.
